WHEN SHOULD I ARRIVE IN SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE?
We recommend arriving in San Miguel de Allende on Thursday, November 5, so you have time to settle in, enjoy the city, and join us for all of the weekend’s celebrations.
If you have the opportunity to extend your trip, we highly recommend arriving a few days earlier. The weekend before our wedding is Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), one of Mexico’s most iconic traditions. During this time, San Miguel comes alive with altars, marigolds, parades, and cultural events, making it a truly unforgettable experience.
How Should I Plan My Arrival in San Miguel de Allende?
We’ve included a selection of recommended hotels for your stay, though San Miguel also offers many beautiful Airbnb options.
For airport transportation, we recommend BajioGo, which provides both private and shared shuttle services from nearby airports. Many hotels can also assist with arranging transportation for their guests, so we encourage you to contact them directly to explore the available options.
Airports:
Querétaro (QRO): 1 hour 15 minutes
León / Bajío (BJX): 1 hour 30 minutes
Mexico City (MEX): 3.5 to 4 hours, depending on traffic
DO I NEED TO RENT A CAR?
No, it’s not necessary. Most of the recommended hotels, restaurants, bars, and activities are located in or near San Miguel’s historic center and are easily accessible on foot. Uber and taxis are also convenient and affordable ways to get around the city. We recommend not renting a car unless you plan to explore areas outside of San Miguel during your stay.
WHAT CURRENCY SHOULD I BRING?
The local currency is the Mexican Peso (MXN). Although most establishments accept credit cards, we recommend carrying some cash for tips and small purchases at local shops.
WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE IN NOVEMBER?
November is one of the best times to visit San Miguel de Allende. Daytime temperatures typically range from 70–80°F (21–27°C), with clear, sunny skies. Mornings and evenings can be cool, with temperatures between 45–55°F (7–13°C), so we recommend bringing a sweater or light jacket for outdoor activities.
WHAT SHOES DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR WALKING AROUND THE CITY?
San Miguel de Allende’s charming cobblestone streets are part of its magic, but they can be a bit challenging for certain types of footwear. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes while exploring the city, and if you plan to wear heels, choosing block or wide heels for greater stability.
